Cricket Bats For Best Performance In 2023 Season

Choosing the best cricket bat is always going to be down to personal performance. Cricket is very popular sports in india. It is a batsman's job to score runs by hitting the ball with his bat .

To help you pick the perfect new batting parter - whatever your style, weight requirement and budget. Some of the biggest brands such as GM ,NEW BALANCE,KOOKABURRA and GRAY NICOLLAS.

Below you'll find brilliant bargain bats you can get for less than £200, our favourites from the big brands and the best cricket bats you can buy from 'boutique' manufacturers   - with a stunning Gray-Nicolls bat at the top of the chart.

1. Gray-Nicolls Hypernova 1.3 300 - Best cricket bat overall for 2023

If you've watched any of the batting mastery of Babar Azam or Mohammad Rizwan in the
past few months, you'll have seen the flashing blade of the Gray-Nicolls Hypernova 1.3 300 - the best cricket bat we tested from a major manufacturer.

And coming in with an RRP of less than £200, you won't even have to pay an arm and a leg to
get one.

We also noted that the thick handle offers plenty of control. As one of our testers commented:
"If you hit it right, you'll get all of it".

A great all-rounder for clubbies that comes in for £200... you can see why it tops our list of
the best cricket bat for 2023.

2. Gunn & Moore Hypa 909 - Best GM cricket bat

For Gunn & Moore devotees, only a willow with that famous GM branding is going to be good enough  to take out to the middle.

And of the GM cricket bats we tested this year, it was the Hypa 909 that came out on top - a
2lb 10oz blade that's emblematic of what the manufacturer does best, with its handsom
design, classic profile and Grade 1 English Willow build.

"It doesn’t feel like the kind of bat you'd just be able to buy from a shop," was one of the most
flattering comments that came back from our testing team. This is a cricket bat that feels like
its been custom-made. No surprise then that with an RRP of £350, it's also one of the more
expensive bats in test.

We found the feel and pick-up a delight, although there was the odd murmur from the testing
team that the middle was a little tricky to find from time to time.

3. Kookaburra Vapor Lite - Best lightweight cricket bat

Prefer something with a little more finesse? Or is this bat for a younger person making the transition
from kids bats to adult?

Then the relatively feathery Kookaburra Vapor Lite - weighing in at 2lb 7oz - could make a great choice.

Our testers admired the attractively rounded 37mm edges and classily tapered toe. It instantly feels like
the kind of blade that's perfect for cutting and dabbing, rather than big bludgeons over cow corner.

The pick-up and middle came in for praise, but Southern Vipers captain Georgia Adams - one of our expert panel  - warned that more powerful players would constantly find themselves having to slow themselves down.

As well as being light in the hands, it's also lighter on the wallet. The RRP is £175, but we've seen it readily available for under £150.

4.Chase Volante R7 - A close runner-up for best bat this year

Chase may not be a brand as instantly familiar as others on this list, but they've built up a fantastic reputation for their handcrafted cricket bats since the mid-90s.

The Volante is Chase's model with the most traditional profile and design. The R7 is in the middle of the range, which means it comes in at under the £300-mark.

In our testing, we were particularly struck by the bat's smooth pick-up - especially given a weight of 2lb 10oz. And when we found the middle, it absolutely pinged.

5.MRF Genius Grand Edition 3.0 - Best cricket bat for Virat Kohli fans

The MRF Genius is an excellent bottom-heavy bat, weighing in at 2lb 9oz and with a £265 RRP.

It's big and and chunky and intimidating, and the middle goes gloriously. Although some may find it just a little bit too weighty, with a slightly sluggish pick-up.

It scored consistently well across our categories, and our guest tester Darren Stevens even described as being the batting equivalent of Jason Statham; rugged-looking and imposing to those facing up to it.

But let's face it... if you're eying up this MRF cricket bat, it's probably because you're a massive Virat Kohli fan and you want to emulate your batting hero

If that does indeed describe you and you don't mind the price or weight, then this is going to be a very reliable purchase indeed.

How we chose the cricket bats on test

It's tempting in a cricket bat test to ask manufacturers to send us their top-of-the-range custom-made cricket bats that each cost a small fortune, and then marvel at how far we can hit with them in the nets.

But for most club and village cricketers, this really isn't going to be what your cricket bat buying experience is going to be like.

So we asked specialist cricket retailer Cricket  dd to supply us with a selection of 'off-the-shelf' willows from a range of brands and price ranges. The models we've included above are readily available at most good cricket shops and online.

How we tested the best cricket bats

While some cricket shops have their own on-site nets, generally speaking you're not going to have the luxury of putting your new bat to the test before you get it back to your club. So it always feels like there's an element of risk.

To give you a real-life review of how the bats actually perform, we took them down to the impressive Brighton Aldridge Community Academy in Sussex to put them through their paces.

Every bat is tested through a range of shots by our testing team, which this year included the county cricket legend Darren Stevens, women's star Georgia Adams, members of The Cricketer staff and the stars of tomorrow studying at the Acedemy.

We then get them to rate the bats across criteria that include initial impressions, build quality, pick-up and feel, and performance, before we average everything out and come up with a final overall score.
